Next week I’ll be travelling to 4Networking Gorleston-on-Sea and Norwich to do a 4sight (presentation) about video. I’m planning on filming the entire trip from the night before, camping overnight and the day of networking and meeting new people.
I’m particularly looking forward to meeting a whole room of new people, as this isn’t something I get to do all the time. Although I try to go to new groups there’s usually one or two people I’ve met before. It will be great to be a complete stranger to everybody in the room!
When I started business networking in 2012 I didn’t have a clue what I was doing, I was fresh out of University, having just set up my business. I got to the point when I had to stand up and talk and I froze, it was a terrifying experience, and at the time, it wasn’t one I wanted to re-live. But something kept me going back, even though I hated having to stand up and talk, part of me enjoyed meeting new people.
I’ve now got to the point where I network regularly, know LOADS of really interesting people, and whenever anybody asks ‘Do you know a plumber?’ ‘Do you know an IFA?’ or ‘Do you know a print company?’, the answer is usually yes, and they’re always great at what they do.
I now really look forward to networking, and this next step of travelling even further than before is really exciting!
